Two trustees appointed to Bayfield Town Board

Mayor thanks four trustees for their service

"It's been a long time."

That's how Michelle Nelson Yost, now a former town trustee, answered when she was asked how long she's served on the Bayfield Town Board. Including her time on the Bayfield Planning Commission, it's been several years - she hasn't stopped to tally exactly how many.

On Tuesday, Mayor Matt Salka thanked for her many years of service. He noted that her institutional memory and representation of residents' opinions, which often are freely expressed at the business she owns, Mini Merc, were invaluable assets to the board.

Salka also thanked Jordon Pierce, who also ended his term of service for the board. Also receiving plaques for their service were former trustees J.J. Sanders and Rachel Davenport, who stepped down from the board in 2017.

David Black and Ashleigh Tarkington took the oath of office to serve as the new members of the board. They were the only two applicants for the open seats, so Bayfield canceled its municipal elections, which would have been held on Tuesday.
