Delays should be expected over the next couple of weeks for maintenance on U.S. Highway 550 from
The chip-and-seal project that began Tuesday should be completed by June 13, the Colorado Department of Transportation said in a news release.
Motorists should expect single-lane alternating traffic in work areas, with up to 15 minutes delays during daylight hours, a CDOT official stated in a news release.
Drivers should adhere to work-zone speed limits to avoid damage to windshields and motorcyclists are “urged to use extreme caution,” the news release said.
CDOT maintenance foreman Vance Kelso said the work will repair the road surface and correct pavement and lane markings.
“The old striping, which is making itself visible, can cause confusion for motorists, especially in rainy conditions or with the sunlight during certain times of the day,” Kelso said in the release.
