WASHINGTON Sen. Mark Udall hit the links Monday with President Barack Obama and two Republican senators.
This marked the first time Udall has golfed with the president.
Sen. Udall welcomed the chance to golf with two of his Republican colleagues and the president, his spokesman Mike Saccone said in an email.
Obama, who has the highest handicap, paired up with Udall, who has the lowest, according to a news pool report. The other two senators, Sens. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., won the match at Andrews Air Force Base with help from Chamblisss hole-in-one.
They discussed a number of issues that Coloradans care deeply about, such as getting America back to work and addressing our deficits and debt, Saccone said.
In 2011, Golf Digest ranked the top 150 Washington golfers. Udall was No. 11 overall, but highest among elected officials in D.C., thanks to his 2 handicap.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said, Hes looking for partners anywhere he can find them including on the 8th hole. He said: Hes willing to try anything. Whether its a conversation on the phone or a meeting at the Oval Office, or dinner at a restaurant or dinner at the residence, hes going to have the same kinds of conversations.
