Dorothy Nakaweesi, a journalist from Kampala, Uganda, is working at The Durango Herald for three weeks. Nakaweesi is participating in an exchange program for media professionals from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda and the United States. The program is under the direction of the International Center for Journalists, a Washington, D.C.-based organization that trains journalists throughout the world.
Nakaweesi is a reporter at the Daily Monitor, which is privately owned by the Nation Media, East Africa’s largest media organization. She writes about business and economic affairs. During her 10 years at the Daily Monitor, she has won multiple awards and been recognized for her work about agri-business, international trade, regional integration and investments.
