Unger will bring right approach to LPEA

Guinn Unger is running for the LPEA Board of Directors because he wants LPEA to be a leader in clean, renewable and locally produced energy.

“Buying a high percentage of our electricity generated by burning coal does not make sense if we want to keep our electric rates low,” he stated. “Coal has become our dirtiest and most expensive fuel. LPEA can be more aggressive in promoting local generation of energy, particularly solar, which can keep jobs in our area.”

I like Guinn’s forward-thinking approach, as I am concerned about Durango’s energy future and the impact of climate change on our planet. Solar energy is a clean, renewable energy source that should be contributing more to our electricity grid.

Many of the existing LPEA board members seem to have a “business as usual” approach and do not take climate change and local development into account in their decision-making. We need new, progressive LPEA board members like Guinn Unger to work for a cleaner energy future for us all.

You will receive your LPEA ballot on April 13.

Please support Guinn Unger, candidate from District 4.
