Two missing hikers east of Vallecito Lake were found Saturday evening by Archuleta County officials, said Butch Knowlton, director of La Plata County Search and Rescue.

La Plata County Search and Rescue was dispatched Saturday morning to help find the hikers, who were thought to be traveling on the East Creek Trail.

“These gentlemen left on Thursday to make a hike from Archuleta County to the Pine River on the La Plata County side,” Knowlton said.

Search and rescue teams spent the better part of Saturday looking for the men after they were reported missing Friday night.

“We cleared the East Creek Trail on our side,” Knowlton said. “They did end up finding them in Archuleta County.”
