Update: Semitrailer driver cited in Pleasant View collision

No injuries reported, semi driver cited

The driver of a semitrailer was cited Friday morning after a collision with a water truck at County Road BB and U.S. Highway 491 south of Pleasant View.

No injuries were reported, and the highway remained open after the crash, which occurred about 9:20 a.m.

Colorado State Patrol Sgt. James Saunders said the water truck was stopped in the center of the highway to make a left turn onto County Road BB when the semitrailer driver failed to stop.

He said the front of the semitrailer collided with the rear of the water truck, which was leaking water from a rear nozzle.

Saunders cited the semitrailer driver for following too closely. The trailer had Nebraska plates.

The Pleasant View Fire Department attributed the crash to “carelessness” on the part of the semitrailer driver. The driver’s side of the semitrailer was damaged, and the water truck showed minimal damage.

The Colorado State Patrol investigated the crash, and the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office provided traffic control while first responders waited for a tow truck to arrive.
