Upper Pine Fire receives award for financial report

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Upper Pine River Fire Protection District for its comprehensive annual financial report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a meaningful accomplishment by a government and its management.

The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet program standards, which include demonstration of a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” used to clearly communicate a financial story and motivating potential users to read the report.

The district also received a 99.67 score in November from the EMS Survey Team in Michigan.

The November report contains data from seven Upper Pine patients who returned a questionaire regarding their care that month.

The service ranks emergency medical service teams around the country.

Upper Pine was ranked second nationwide of similarly-sized districts.
