‘Urge meaningful support for Ukraine’

Individuals not in support of Ukraine in its current conflict with Russia are, at the very least, passively supporting Vladimir Putin.

Please, review the historical record.

In the late 1930s, Adolf Hitler began a campaign of aggression in Europe, facilitated by repeated appeasement from Western powers. This resulted in Nazi control of much of Western Europe and death to multiple millions.

After World War II, the Russian political and military machine began empire-building in much of Eastern Europe and Asia. Again, enabled and appeased by numerous Western powers. The massive, oppressive power of the Soviet Union resulted in more millions killed for political reasons both inside and outside the U.S.S.R.

2014 saw Russian president (and former KGB strongman) Putin and his modern autocracy take over the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine.

In 2022, as we are all painfully aware, Putin and Russia invaded Ukraine in what they cynically called a “defensive” operation.

If Ukraine falls, many of the horrors and devastation caused by the Nazis and the U.S.S.R. are bound to be repeated.

Please, urge your elected officials to maintain meaningful support for Ukraine.

As Harry Truman said, “There is nothing new in the world except the history you do not know.”
