The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently announced that La Plata, Montezuma and Archuleta counties are included in the list of designated primary natural disaster areas because of losses and damages from recent drought.
Eligible farm operators can apply for emergency loans from the Farm Service Agency through the end of November to help cover a portion of actual losses. The FSA will consider loan applications according to specific criteria, such as extent of losses, security available and repayment ability.
