Use of Confederate flag is insensitive

I understand the argument that the Confederate flag is a symbol of the Civil War for the South. I also understand that the swastika was a symbol for Buddhists. The problem comes from the fact that both symbols have been co-opted by white supremacists and Nazis.

Our culture has evolved. The flag used to honor the fallen, but now only stands as a symbol of racism and hate. Granted, initially, it also was on the wrong side of history for its support of slavery.

Insisting that it is to raise awareness for the museum would be admirable if it was not so culturally insensitive. Unfortunately, such insistence just feels tone deaf and racist.
