Volunteer labor and donations have helped the sporting group get the new marina up and running.
While boats have still been on Vallecito Reservoir, the loss of the dock and marina meant fewer visitors and residents were returning to the lake. The opening of the new marina is good news for the lake's businesses, according to local residents.
The other positive news this year is a full reservoir at Vallectio, thanks to May rains that filled area waterways.
The new Vallecito Marina is scheduled to open today, operated by the Vallecito Conservation and Sporting Association. The leaseholder of the old marina on the reservoir did not renew it this year, leaving the area without boat rentals and slips.
