Tickets for Cattlemen Banquet on sale

Tickets for the La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemen's Banquet are now available.  The banquet will be held on Saturday, April 26 at the Sky Ute Casino Event Center in Ignacio.  Tickets can be obtained at Basin Co-op in Durango, Pine River Valley Bank in Bayfield, Wells Fargo Bank in Ignacio, and Boot Hill in Pagosa Springs.  For more information call Barbara at 247-2816.

Art show opening at Studio Sellke

Peter Berriman of Bayfield will have an opening of his art show from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Studio Sellke in Gem Village. Berriman works in metal, ink, acrylics and several other media. His work can be found at www.artfire.com and searching twoguysfourhands or Peter Ladd. The studio is located at 39965 U.S. Highway 160 and can be reached at 884-0565.

Dinner Saturday benefits Cystic fybrosis Foundation

A benefit dinner for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Allison Grange Hall on County Road 329. The menu is chicken, green beans, salad, rolls and fresh fruit. Pine River Shares potluck is tomorrow night

Everyone is welcome at the monthly Pine River Shares potluck from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the old middle school gym on South Street in downtown Bayfield. This month's dinner is Irish fare, with corned beef, bangers and mash, and shepherd's pie. Participants are asked to bring a dish to share, plates and silverware, and any canned, packaged for fresh food they would like to share. If you don't have time to make a dish, don't worry about it. There is plenty of food. Spring sports equipment (cleats, soccer gear, baseball gear, etc.) also is being accepted. The potlucks have received an award from the San Juan Basin Health Department for being a family-friendly event. For more information or a ride, call the Bayfield Family Center at 884-4747.

Seed library opening Sunday

The Southwest Seed Library will hold a grand opening celebration Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Durango Discovery Museum (old power plant between Camino del Rio and the river). There will be a library orientation, seed starting workshop, a house plant swap, a raffle, and on-the-hour mini presentations - companion planting at 1 p.m., permaculture and seed saving at 2 p.m., and the science of healthy soil and compost at 3 p.m.

Udall staff to host office hours

Staff from the office of U.S. Sen. Mark Udall will hold office hours in Southwest Colorado on Tuesday, March 25. Regional staff will be available to assist people who need help in dealings with federal agencies. They also will be available to answer questions about grants for special districts, local governments, and nonprofits.

In Durango, staff will be available starting at 9:30 a.m. at 954 E. Second Ave., suite 106.

They will shift to the Cortez Public Library for meetings at 2 p.m., and to the Dolores Community Center at 3:30 p.m.
