Lego robotics camp set for June
Bayfield Parks and Recreation and the Pine River Public Library will hold two Lego robotics camps in June. The first is June 16-20, the second is June 23-27, from 1 to 4 p.m. each afternoon.
The camp is for children 8 and up, and the cost is $120 per week.

LPEA to host grant workshop
La Plata Electric Association will host a grant education workshop on Tuesday, June 10, for small businesses and ag producers interested in energy efficiency upgrades or renewable energy systems.
The free workshop will feature U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development community and economic development director Patty Snidow. It will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of LPEA's headquarters in Bodo Park, Durango.
RSVPs are required.
The grant application deadline is July 7 for this year's funding cycle. The workshop will provide information on how to apply. The grants can cover up to 25 percent of a project's cost. They are available specifically to private businesses, not non-profits or local governments.
LPEA project specialist Sue Maxwell said, "LPEA was a successful recipient of a $100,000 USDA grant for energy audit review and education in 2011. We encourage local small businesses, and that includes our regional farmers and ranchers, to look into this opportunity, and LPEA wants to help however we can."
She said energy efficiency and renewable energy contractors are urged to attend, since they play a key role in the success of a grant application.

Evening book club to meet at library
Ignacio Community Library's newest book club is an evening group that will meet the third Thursday of the month. The book for June will be Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, with the meeting at 6 p.m. on June 19. Call the library at 563-9287 for more information.
Deadline today to register for philanthropy conference
Southwest Colorado Rural Philanthropy Days will be held June 11 to 13 in Pagosa Springs. The registrations deadline is today, May 23. This event is open to non-profit professionals and volunteers in Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma, and San Juan counties. Fire, health-care and school districts, plus emergency services and search and rescue groups are also encouraged to attend. There is a special workshop just for elected government officials. There is no limit to the number of paid registrations per organization.
The event features non-profit development workshops and networking opportunities that bring together representatives of foundations and non-profits from Denver with local foundations and government leaders for three days of workshops and funding roundtables. Adaptive Sports kicks off summer training
Adaptive Sports Association will run their summer program trainings at the end of May. ASA is a non-profit sports and recreation outfitter for people with disabilities. Volunteers are needed to assist in daily programming including whitewater rafting, canoe and kayaking, cycling, camping, rock climbing, fishing and more. The trainings are free and no prior experience is required.
Volunteer raft training will run May 28 and June 2. Canoe and kayak training will take place May 27 and June 3. Cycling training is May 30. Interested volunteers can call 259-0374 or visit www.asadurango.org for more information and events.
Drama workshop to take place at library
The Ignacio Community Library will host a drama workshop for kids 9 to 12 years old, featuring fun and creative theater. The workshop is from 3 to 5 p.m. from June 4 to June 6. For more information, call 563-9287.
