It seems that the Colorado Department of Revenue has learned from the auto industry and its bad habit of adding additional charges to the base price of an automobile.
In my recent registration of a new car, my transaction receipt included:
Age of Vehicle Add-on, Bridge Safety Surcharge, Clerk Hire Fee, County Road and Bridge, Emergency Medical Services, Prior Specific Ownership Tax, Insurance Fee, Material (supplies) Fee, Peace Officer Training Fee and Road Safety Surcharge.
Of course there was also the normal registration, title application and ownership taxes which you would expect.
Maybe the politician salary charge is next?
Maybe La Plata County Treasurer Aichele and County Commisioner Blake can explain when these charges started to be added to vehicle registrations! Another way to raise money?
