The tradition of honoring our veterans who have served in the armed forces for their service to our country continues Monday with a parade at 11:11 a.m. (on 11/11) from 5th to 12th streets on Main Avenue in downtown Durango. Come downtown, take off your hat and put your hand over your heart when the American flag goes by. Monday is a free parking day. No excuse there.
After the parade, there will be a flyby at noon, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4031 is hosting an open house from noon to 3 p.m. at 1500 Main Ave. The open house will feature a free art show by students of the Landscape Oil Painting Workshop held at the VFW, a chance to meet local veterans and learn about the VFW. Lunch will be served.
