Several groups are trying to organize an event, “Four Corners Veterans Stand Down,” Veterans that will provide local veterans with much-needed care at the La Plata County Fairgrounds in November. The Archuleta County Veterans for Veterans, along with Disabled American Veterans, Volunteers of America, Red Cross, Veterans Administration and County Veterans Service Officers from Archuletta, La Plata and Montezuma Counties are sponsoring the event, which is designed to avail homeless and struggling veterans of help, including both encouragement and resources. The event is scheduled for Nov. 15.

“This one day will provide showers, haircuts, food, clothing, medical and mental attention, social services, legal assistance, job and housing referrals from each county and more,” said the organizers in a release.

The organizers are seeking more sponsors and volunteers to support the event, either through financial or in-kind donations, as well as hosting a resource table
