The Disabled American Veteran Chapter 48 of Durango runs a 12-passenger van to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albuquerque to take disabled veterans to their medical appointments two to three days per week. In order to do so, we occasionally need to advertise for new drivers, so around the holidays like Veterans Day and Memorial Day, we ask the Herald to run our ad for us.
Invariably, Odette Zenizo at the want-ads desk is happy to help and runs our ad for a couple of weeks. We usually end up with 20 calls and three or four new drivers.
We would like to thank the Herald and especially Odette for her able assistance. It is greatly appreciated by the DAV organization as well as the many disabled veterans who ride the van.
