At the Veterans Benefit Breakfast held on Dec. 4, the winners of VFW Post 4031’s scholarship winners were announced. The winner of the Patriot’s Pen competition is Daxtin Kunch of Durango. The second place winner of the Voice of Democracy scholarship contest is Adi Hooks of Bayfield. The first place winner of the Voice of Democracy competition is Kaleah Bartlett.
All winners were awarded a certificate and a medal. The two winners of the scholarship programs were also presented with a check. Kunch also won the VFW District 12 (Southwest Colorado) level of competition and has been entered in the state of Colorado VFW scholarship contest.
