Volunteers of America approved as an Enterprise Zone Contribution Project

The Volunteers of America Durango Community Shelter and Southwest Safehouse were approved Aug. 15 as an Enterprise Zone Contribution Project by the State Economic Development Commission.

This designation allows donors of $250 or more to the organization to claim a 25% state tax credit, and a 12.5% state tax credit on in-kind donations in addition to the federal tax deduction for contributing to any 501(c)(3).

The Volunteers of America Durango Community Shelter and Southwest Safehouse work to meet emergency/transitional housing needs as well as employment training and referrals in Southwest Colorado.
