Vote ‘for’ 2A, ongoing investment in Durango

In 2005, Durango residents voted for a ½ cent sales tax to fund parks, recreation, and open space. This money fueled community quality of life and safety improvements often taken for granted.

Imagine Durango without the Animas River Trail, the Whitewater Park, Oxbow Park and Preserve, Lake Nighthorse, Overend Mountain Park, Twin Buttes and Horse Gulch. These and more were made possible by the 2005 sales tax.

This tax will expire in 2026. Voting “for” Ballot measure 2A continues our investment in Durango. As federal and state dollars become less sure, we need to defend our home turf and award winning parks, open space, and trails.

“For” 2A means maintaining what we have and building on past achievements with an extension of the ART to Three Springs, and secures dollars for a community park there, too. “For” makes possible the development of world-class biking and event facilities at Durango Mountain Park.

Beyond the healthy lifestyle benefits to young and old, rich and poor alike, voting “for” 2A funds a new police station, and supports law enforcement with a modern, functional facility. It backs renovating the historic 9-R Administration Building to house our city government – which is currently scattered in several buildings – with a new consolidated city hall right in the heart of Durango.

“For” 2A is a win for our town, a win for our residents, and a win for our future. Please vote to continue funding what has made Durango such a great place to call home. Vote “for” 2A!
