Vote for Gulec, Hill and Paslay for school board

I wanted to write to support Donna Gulec, Dean Hill and Kristina Paslay who are running for Durango School District 9-R board. These candidates believe in parental involvement, complete transparency (with curriculum, financial, board meetings, etc.) and improving academic scores. Their website is www.buildingdurangosfuture.com. They are more than qualified.

Gulec has a finance and marketing degree, and an MBA as well.

Hill's history includes experience as a dean of students, assistant principal, athletic director, principal, as well as school district superintendent.

Paslay has served as a tribal court advocate and mediator, has an associate's degree in paralegal studies and further education in peace and conflict studies.

Ironically, supporters for the opposition are labeling these candidates as “pro-freedom” and “pro-American exceptionalism“ in recent Facebook posts. I'm not exactly sure why this is being treated as a bad quality but as someone who served in the U.S. Army and as someone who comes from a military family, I am OK with this label.

As a parent of four children, I am excited for these candidates who seem to support a higher parental involvement with the education of our children. I encourage everyone to go to Gulec, Hill and Paslay's website, where you can email the candidates any questions you may have or meet them at upcoming meet and greet events. We need to put political garbage aside and get back to the basics and putting the kids first. Vote for Building Durango's Future!
