Vote no on Ordinance 417

The Board of Trustees for Bayfield wasted a lot of money for an attorney to write Ordinance 417. The question is do you want pot sales in city boundaries? Yes or no.

But, it took an attorney four newspaper pages to ask the question, I hope we did pay him by the letter. We got had.

The most frustrating thing is that the Board of Trustees want pot sales. This is evident in Section 1:

"Whereas, (attorney talk) The Board of Trustees finds and determines that, by requiring retail pot stores, retail pot products manufacturing facilities and pot testing facilities to be operated in a manner minimizes potential health and safety risks, the negative impacts that such uses might have on surrounding properties and persons are mitigated;"

Please define the risks! Not done.

"Whereas, (attorney talk) The Board of Trustees, subject to voter approval, finds and determines through this new article (ordinance) it intends to establish a nondiscriminatory mechanism by which the Town may control, through appropriate regulation, the location and operation of retail pot stores, retail pot products manufacturing facilities and pot testing facilities within the town so as to preserve community values and promote the health, safety and welfare of the town resident;"

Please note this applies to only one resident, not residents, and as Trustee Black stated this is not about the community, it's about the Town of Bayfield.

Section 10

"This ordinance is deemed necessary for the protection of the health, welfare and safety of the community and is immediately effective upon voter approval.

Signed by the mayor"

I have one closing comment; Ordinance 417 should be written to rename Bayfield to Potsville. I strongly recommend that Bayfield voters vote no, do not get lost in the four pages of legal mumble jumble.
