Due to cuts in federal expenditure and property tax funding roads, bridges, public buildings, law enforcement, public safety, wildfires, floods, natural disasters, veterans services, seniors services, at-risk children's services, family services and other county services, it makes sense to vote “yes” on Ballot Issue 1A. This is a one cent per dollar sales tax that will help fund these services.
Thirty percent of the taxable retail sales in La Plata County are to people who don’t live here such as tourists or regional shoppers; therefore 30% of this tax will be paid by tourists or regional shoppers.
This tax will benefit all of us with services that are in danger of being cut or eliminated. Your future self will thank you for the “yes” vote on Ballet Issue 1A.
