Sweetie Marbury is the right person for our City Council. The thing that strikes me most about Sweetie is her ability to listen and then provide common sense solutions.
For example, residents of the Riverview Elementary School area were concerned about the safety of the children in their area because cars were not slowing down in the school zones. Sweetie negotiated for them and got a flashing light to help make drivers aware that they needed to slow down. Sweetie has shown that she stands up for neighborhoods.
Sweetie has also been going to City Council meetings since 1987 and has been our council member for the last four years. She is visible and accessible to the people she represents. She works hard on the relationships with other area leaders. She works on the intergovernmental agreement with the county commissioners and has helped build a strong working relationship with the Southern Ute Tribe and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. She is working with our local governments to bring access to Lake Nighthorse to allow recreational use.
Sweetie also understands our local entrepreneurs. She grew up in a small business that her parents owned and helped with scheduling and payroll, among other things. She knows that small business is the backbone of our city. She has a lot of experience with local projects, public hearings and budgets over the last four years as a successful council member.
Please vote to reelect our strong, compassionate and thoughtful city council member, Sweetie Marbury. She will work hard for the best interests of our Durango community and neighborhoods.
