Thank you for your discussion about the minimum wage vs. a living wage (Herald, Jan. 5). It is easy to get them confused. Back in 2008 when concerned residents put together the “La Plata County Family Master Plan,” a smaller group of individuals formed what is now La Plata County Thrive! Living Wage Coalition.
What a wonderful thing – learned community members coming together to address this ever-growing problem that is affecting all of us. I feel it is just tragic when talented young folks can’t find employment in La Plata County that pays enough for them to live here.
Again, thank you for keeping this important issue in the public eye.
