Trump has gone far beyond the trope, “Oh! He would not do that.” He is doing it now and will until he achieves his craven desire to be king.
The young man in an El Salvadoran gulag is an example of what Trump will do. He is there by mistake. There are no facts supporting his incarceration. No inmate leaves that fortress alive. Mere entry is a death sentence. The self-declared most powerful man in the world says he can do nothing about it.
Trump's removal of “brown people” from the USA is led by Stephen Miller, a longtime adviser. (There is a very well written biography of him – “Hatemonger,” by Jean Guerrero). Miller adores the memory of Hitler and reportedly has an extensive collection of Nazi memorabilia even though his ancestors fled Europe because of anti-Jewish violence. Yes, he is Jewish.
One tale in the book epitomizes his, and Trump’s, attitude toward truth. He supported a false story circulated in high school regarding a teacher besmirching the flag after Sept. 11. He was heard to say, as a teenager, “It doesn’t matter what the truth is, but how it makes people feel.”
So why should you care about Miller and this prison story? Trump recently mused more than once, “I wonder if I can send ‘homegrowns’ there? Bondi, please research it.”
We are “Homegrowns.” Tomorrow, can we, without any factual basis, be shipped to a hellscape? Can I for writing this letter? Wake up before this terror becomes personal.
