Pine River Shares is delighted to announce receipt of a grant from Walmart in Durango. We are proud that this prominent local retailer chose us to receive funds set aside to support the community.
The $2,000 grant goes to support the Pine River Shares Bayfield Kids 4 Kids (BK4K) backpack program. BK4K sends food home for weekends and holidays with students whose families can use a little extra. Last year, we filled more than 2,000 backpacks during the school year, serving more than 80 local families. We're on track to provide as much or more this year, and the funds from Walmart will help us do that.
