The Durango Police Department identified an 18-year-old man who they suspect drew a swastika on a window with a permanent marker last week on a construction site in Three Springs subdivision.

Law enforcement has issued a warrant for the arrest of River Anderson, a suspect identified after more than 100 people commented on a Durango Police Department Facebook post with an image of the suspected vandal.

At least four people who commented on the link identified Anderson in the Facebook post.

Durango police thanked people who commented with tips identifying Anderson.

Law enforcement sought help from the community about a week ago when it posted a still image from a surveillance camera showing a man with a faint mustache wearing a baseball hat, a maroon sweatshirt with the hood up and blue pants. Durango police suspect Anderson of writing derogatory statements and a swastika symbol on windows. He’s also suspected of damaging items inside the home.

Durango police are asking anyone with information about Anderson’s whereabouts to call dispatch at 385-2900.
