Water service was restored Monday afternoon to homes in north Durango where a water main break caused an outage, according to Durango’s utilities department.
Around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, a water line break was reported at Main Avenue and 37th Street, Assistant Utilities Director Jarrod Biggs said.
As a result, several homes were without water continuing into Monday, though the utilities department did not have an exact number of homes hit by the outage.
The area affected included all homes north of the Main Avenue and east 37th Street, all the way up Animas View Drive to the Iron Horse Inn and even reaching some homes on County Road 203.
Crews were out early Monday to repair the break. Biggs said water was restored Monday afternoon. However, crews discovered a valve failure that will need to be repaired Tuesday.
As a result, interruptions to water service may occur throughout the day Tuesday.
