We need an objective press

Oct. 20’s editorial screed against Trump, declaring how he would ruin the United States, is not a surprise for most people living in the Durango area. The Herald takes the time to do what the liberal media has done since 2015 … demonize Trump daily. To be fair, the Democrats have called every Republican candidate since Dewey a “Nazi” and have devoted their time to character assassination rather than the issues. A recent poll shows that 28% of Democrats wish that the Trump assassination attempts had succeeded … no surprise given the encouragement from the leftist press.

Meanwhile, here in LaPlata County, the middle-class citizens have been crushed by the Biden/Harris inflation and not a word of coverage given to Sens. Bennet and Hickenlooper role in effecting inflation. With the Herald’s reporting, we wouldn’t really know that the Biden/Harris administration has flooded the country with millions of illegal aliens and crimes by those aliens are carefully not reported, as best as possible. Democrats worry about “democracy,” yet no mention is given about the democratically enacted immigration laws that are simply being ignored by the Biden/Harris administration. What we really need is an adversarial, objective press, rather than the corrupt partisan press we’re saddled with.
