It use to be when registering to vote, declaring a party was the only way for one to participate in the process before the general election. Since then, the Colorado Legislature gave unaffiliated voters the opportunity to vote on some of the candidates the parties pick during the primary election. So recently, I have renounced my affiliation as it is the most direct way to have a say in who our congressional representative will be.
Having a sound representation in Congress should be high on our lists of priorities; Lauren Boebert is not that person. To illustrate, the past year I have been the chair of the Southwest Council of Governments. Community representatives meet regularly to discuss items of regional importance. Representatives from both Sens. Bennett’s and Hickenlooper’s offices routinely attended meetings and gave us legislative updates. Never once did anyone from Rep. Boebert’s office attend, and honestly, Zoom meetings are really easy to attend.
Frankly and bluntly, if you are supporting Boebert as our representative in any fashion, that support can be construed as support for fascists tendencies and we should never be going down that road. The Western Slope deserves better representation in Congress, and Boebert has repeatedly shown she is not up to the task.
State Sen. Don Coram has done an admirable job of representing his Southwest Colorado constituencies. If you are able, cast your primary vote for Sen. Coram, a true statesman.
Make Boebert a one-term loser.
