A story headlined “Diverse trails called priority” (Herald, Sept. 12) hit the nail on the head on how pathetic and incapable Trails 2000 really has become and possibly has always been. It talked about trail diversity, but the trail organization has no plan to step forward from 2000 and start building modern trails.
If you want bicycle tourism, build trails with flow, berms, jumps, challenging rollers and technical features. The “Chapman flow trail” is a joke with brake-jacking corners (exactly Trails 2000’s style). We need to evolve with the world of riding by understanding the speed of modern bikes.
Only the illegal trails in town are the ones worth riding multiple times because they actually pose a challenge. The new Medicine Trail is sad. A couple good small jumps with numerous horrible corners and a destroyed exit section. Who is in charge of this? The high country is sick, and that is why people keep coming here, and unless we progress with the world, only old people will come here to ride, and consequently, our tourist population will die off!
