The Fort Lewis College men’s golf team finished the first round in 14th before the second round was halted by inclement weather Monday at the 16-team Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite at the Tacosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas.
FLC stumbled out of the gates a bit in the season’s first event, firing a 298, but head coach Bud Andersen said the Skyhawks were starting to right themselves a bit early in the second round.
The second round will be completed in the morning Tuesday before the third and final round.
“We just didn’t get off to a good start this morning,” Andersen said.
Bryan Schlichter fired a 71 for FLC to tie for 18 after one round, and Michael Thomas was tied for 33rd after carding a 73. Morgan Miller and Josh Woodworth fired matching 77s, and Dillon Washburn shot 79.
Wayland Baptist and Oklahoma Christian tied for the team lead with matching 277s.
