Weed abatement scheduled near Riverview Sports Complex and Carnegie building

The city of Durango has contracted with Horizon Environmental Services for noxious weed abatement Wednesday through Friday.

Treatments will occur in areas near Riverview Sports Complex (south side of the parking area and the rock retaining wall along the west side of the baseball fields) and Carnegie building (rock area on the south side of the building). Follow up spot spraying at the treated areas will continue through the month of March.

Envoy plus and Pendulum 3EC are the herbicides that will be used.

Applications are conducted to improve the quality of rights of ways, parks and open spaces in the city’s system. Weed control is repeatedly tested and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, and Horizon Environmental Services is licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

The treatment schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions. For more information, contact the Park Maintenance Division at 375-7384.
