Weed abatement scheduled on city property

The city of Durango has contracted with Horizon Environmental Services for noxious weed abatement beginning Tuesday and continuing through Aug. 7. The herbicides that will be used, depending on noxious weed species, are Milestone, E2, Sureguard SC, Envoy Plus and Pendulum 3.3 EC.

Applications are conducted to improve the quality of right-of-ways, parks and open spaces in the city’s system. The weed control is repeatedly tested and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency. Horizon Environmental Services is licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Areas that will be treated for noxious weeds are:

The city owned lot located at 548 Wilson Gulch RoadThe area adjacent to the hard surface trail in the Three Springs Southern Open SpaceParking lot cracks and curb line at Smith Sports ComplexParking lot cracks and curb line at the Community Recreation CenterThe crusher fine pad at Whitewater Park adjacent to the Santa Rita Water Reclamation facility buildingFollow up spot spraying at treated areas will continue through August.
