Watch out, weeds.
The Durango Parks and Recreation Department will begin spraying weeds Wednesday at various locations. Spraying will continue through July 2, according to a news release issued by the city.
Areas to be sprayed are: Oxbow Park and Preserve, Hillcrest Golf Course, the Animas River Trail, the trail at Three Springs, Greenmount Cemetery, the City Service Center, Cundiff Park, the city water dock, Roosa Park, Westside Park, River City Hall and open spaces belonging to the city.
A specific schedule for spraying has not yet been set because of unpredictable weather conditions, according to the release.
Scott’s Pro-Lawn will conduct the noxious weed abatement. Vessel Broadleaf Herbicide will be used.
Weed abatement aims to improve the quality of the right-of-ways and open spaces.
“The weed control is repeatedly tested and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, and Scott’s Pro-Lawn is licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture,” the release said.
