Weed spraying planned for city

The city of Durango will begin spraying places in city limits to eliminate weeds.

The City of Durango, which has contracted with Pride Weed Control, will conduct spot treatment for noxious weeds Aug. 21 to Sept. 8, weather permitting, in these areas: the city trail system and open space at Three Springs; City Service Center at 105 Sawyer Drive in Bodo; the intersection at County Road 250 and Florida Road; the intersection at Florida Road, East Third Avenue and 15th Street; 32nd Street west of Main Avenue; open space at Hillcrest and SkyRidge subdivisions; and the parking lot at 1917 East Third Ave.

The city promotes best management practices to ensure safety. Spot treatment for noxious-weed abatement is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, and conducted to improve the quality of right-of-ways, parks and open spaces in the city parks system.

Herbicides to be applied include Sahara and a combination of 2,4-D and Dicamba.
