50 years ago: A year ago Saturday, Gov. John Love was among those participating in the dedication of the new Herald plant. It’s been a busy and satisfying year for the newspaper. The Herald has more than 400 new subscribers each day, or an 8 percent circulation gain. This is evidence that the superior production made possible by offset printing has readership appeal.
25 years ago: Purgatory-Durango Ski Resort and Sportours, the largest wholesale ski tour operator in Southern California, have signed an agreement to provide non-stop jet service between Los Angeles International Airport and Durango during the 1991-92 ski season. Round-trip airfares will be available from $239.
