What to watch: Colorado Division I college football for week five

College football continues to excite with some great matchups this weekend between top-25 teams and conference foes. Chemistry is starting to show on the field after four weeks of games and talent is either turning into production or disappointment. Here’s what matchups Colorado Division I schools have this weekend:

Colorado Buffaloes at University of Central Florida Knights on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. MT

Where: FBC Mortgage Stadium, Orlando, Florida

How to Watch: FOX

Records: Colorado is 3-1 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play after a 38-31 overtime win against Baylor last Saturday. UCF is 3-0 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play after a 35-34 win at TCU on Sept. 14.

Line: UCF is a 14-point favorite

Notes: Colorado came back in incredible fashion against Baylor with a Hail Mary at the end of regulation by quarterback Shedeur Sanders to tie the game and send it into overtime. Two weeks ago, UCF won on a 20-yard touchdown pass with 20 seconds left against TCU.

Sanders finished his last game with 341 yards passing and two passing touchdowns. Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter had a team-high 130 yards receiving. It’s his fifth straight game with over 100 yards receiving.

UCF was led by quarterback KJ Jefferson who finished with 230 yards passing and three touchdowns against TCU two weeks ago. Running back RJ Harvey also had 29 carries for 180 yards and two touchdowns. He’s eighth in the nation in rushing yards this season and UCF is the top rushing team in the country with 375.7 rushing yards per game.

Air Force Falcons at Wyoming Cowboys on Saturday at 6 p.m. MT

Where: War Memorial Stadium, Laramie, Wyoming

How to Watch: CBS Sports Network

Records: Air Force is 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the Mountain West after a 31-3 loss at Baylor on Sept. 14. Wyoming is 0-4 overall and a 44-17 loss at North Texas last Saturday.

Line: Air Force is a four-point favorite.

Notes: Wyoming hasn’t won a game since Dec. 30, 2023 against Toledo. Three of its four losses have been by more than two touchdowns, with its lone close loss to Idaho 17-13 on Sept. 7.

Air Force is on a two-game losing streak. Quarterback John Busha only has 125 passing yards on the season. Cade Harris is the top rusher with 132 yards.

Wyoming quarterback Evan Svoboda has been mediocre, with 463 yards pass, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Running back DJ Jones leads the Cowboys with 162 yards rushing.

Cal Poly Mustangs at Northern Colorado Bears on Saturday at 1 p.m. MT

Where: Nottingham Field, Greeley

How to Watch: ESPN+

Records: Northern Colorado is 0-4 overall after a 48-7 loss at Stephen F. Austin last Saturday. Cal Poly is 1-2 overall after a 31-14 win against Western Oregon on Sept. 14.

Line: No line

Notes: Both of these FCS schools kick off Big Sky conference play with this game.

Northern Colorado only managed 242 yards of total offense against Stephen F. Austin and gave up 509 yards of total offense. Kia’l Keone led the offense last week with 76 yards on the ground.

Cal Poly was led by quarterback Bo Kelly against Western Oregon, he threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns.
