Willowtail offers series of art, writing, herb classes in Mancos
Peggy and Lee Cloy’s home at Willowtail Springs doubles as an art gallery. Here, Peggy examines a piece she is working on.

Willowtail Springs in Mancos is offering a series of workshops at the Mancos library, with the exception of one that will be held at Willowtail.

The instructors of the workshops have been artists-in-residence at Willowtail, says Peggy Cloy, who owns the property with her husband, Lee.

“They want to teach, so we’re doing it,” she says.

First up will be Dan Groth’s class, “Automatic drawing and painting as a means to expand one’s creative reach,” which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the library. Groth had his Willowtail residency in 2015.

After Groth’s class, check out offerings for creative nonfiction, photography, drawing and an herb walkabout.
