When will train give instead of taking?

Every morning and evening when the train lays on its horn all the way through town practically nonstop, it reminds me of the 416 Fire. Can we locals just have some peace and quiet?

Then I see the article in the Herald about the non-profits taking on the task of fighting weeds in the burn scar area. Where did the funds for this weed control come from? I can tell you where it didn’t come from: the Harpers and the train.

Shortly after the fire, Al Harper said if the train was found to have started the fire, the train would take “full responsibility.” Well, the train was found to have started the fire and it’s being sued by the U.S. government to try and recover at least part of the millions of dollars we, the public, had to pay for firefighting and other fire-related costs.

If someone can show me one dime the train has spent to “take full responsibility,” I’d appreciate it. Instead, they are using their troves of lawyers and insurance companies to protect their best interests and totally abdicate the responsibility they do have. Not very community-minded, I would say.

Not giving back but taking all they can get: Typical.
