Where’s the snow? Another chance Thursday

Skiers and snowboarders saw cloudy skies but no snow Wednesday at Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort. Weather forecasters say there’s another chance for snow Thursday morning.

The chance of snow forecast for Wednesday morning will be about 24 hours late.

A small system blowing from west to east through northern New Mexico won’t do anything for the Durango area, Joe Ramey, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, said.

But a colder front arriving from the north after midnight Wednesday could bring some snow.

“But it doesn’t look impressive,” Ramey said. “You might see some flakes or possibly a dusting, maybe a small accumulation.”

In keeping with tradition, it’s been a dry January, Ramey said. January and June are the state’s driest months, he said.
