As everyone is now aware, we have become a badly divided nation politically and Colorado has not escaped this tragedy. It is therefore ever more important for people in positions likely to sway public opinion to use good diligence and thorough research prior to issuing endorsements.
An example of not doing so: Candidate A, running for governor, is a successful businessman with political experience. He has taken a bold and noble step that all candidates should have to adhere to of refusing to accept dark money from super PACs, instead financing his own campaign while accepting small donations from private citizens.
Candidate B also has political experience but is financed primarily by vast amounts of dark super PAC money the main source of which is not difficult to figure out.
Both candidates therefore are buying their seat if elected.
To endorse candidate B because A is buying his seat is absurd – unfortunately, almost all seats nowadays are bought.
Look at Wisconsin to see what dark money does. Is that what we want for Colorado?
