If we were serious about wanting more people to vote, we would have the county clerk include a stamped return envelope when she mails out the ballots.
Right now, if we don’t want to use a stamp we can always drive into town and drop the return ballot off at a designated spot, but either way of returning the ballot incurs a cost.
Why should we have to pay to vote? Isn’t that a kind of poll tax? And doesn’t that discriminate against poor people, not to mention the elderly who no longer drive? To me, it’s a kind of voter suppression.
