I am 100% fed up. For nearly 40 years now, we have been tending family graves at Red Mesa Cemetery.
Even at a young age, I knew those who take care of these gravesites on Memorial Day in this cemetery should not be required to bring things such as shovels, rakes, Weed Eaters, jugs of water (for plants), gas cans for mowers, etc.
Then as we drive home to Mancos, what do we see on Cherry Creek Road? A wonderfully maintained (comparatively) Lutheran cemetery! When we go to Cahone Cemetery all we need do is place flowers.
What is going on with the Red Mesa Cemetery? Why? The best condition I have seen that place in was when the locals would run cows over the graves for grazing. This is unacceptable. If someone is getting taxpayer money to maintain this cemetery, they have been committing fraud for decades. Enough is enough. I am reaching the point of demanding compensation for my and my families’ labor.
