Durango residents are invited to put on their coats and helmets and pedal to work on Friday for the eighth Winter Bike to Work Day, a clean-commuting celebration held annually at the end of February.
Get Around Durango will host a cycling event to celebrate the day’s clean commute from 7 to 9 a.m. at Studio & Gallery, 1027 Main Ave. The celebration will feature a heated tent, free bike tune-ups and a raffle. For those looking for breakfast, coffee and tea from Carver Brewing Co.; breakfast snacks and doughnuts from Rendezvous Doughnuts; and coffee cake and cookies from Bread will be served. In addition, the first 100 attendees will receive a long-sleeved, hooded T-shirt. Raffle giveaways include:
Smith Optics goggles and helmets.Osprey backpacks.Hydroflask and Klean Kanteen water bottles.Another clean-commuting initiative, the Winter Business Commuter Challenge, challenges businesses to walk, cycle, e-bike, take the bus or carpool to work during the five-day work week leading up to Winter Bike to Work Day. The multi-modal challenge will be held through Friday.
