Without e-bike, ‘couldn't ride’

In response to a letter on Aug. 3, the writer should be aware that if not for e-bikes, some people wouldn't be able to ride at all. I have an auto-immune disease that weakens my peripheral muscles. If not for an e-bike, I couldn't ride. Many older people don't have the stamina to ride the hills around here.

As for the environmental impact, yes it takes fuel to create electricity, but then you are not spewing carbon when you ride. Think of electric cars or the fuel it takes to refine gasoline. Someone riding an electric bike doesn't harm you, why condemn them? There's room for everyone.
