Wolf Creek Pass to temporarily close Saturday morning

CDOT will start avalanche mitigation work at 6 a.m.
The west side of Wolf Creek Pass will be closed for about two hours Saturday morning for avalanche mitigation work.

Wolf Creek Ski Area posted to its website it was advised by the Colorado Department of Transportation that the work will start 6 a.m. The highway is expected to reopen around 8 a.m.

The east side of the pass will remain open to the ski area, Wolf Creek Ski Area wrote.

The Colorado Department of Transportation did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

According to Wolf Creek Ski Area, the mountain had received 7 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours as 3:35 p.m. Friday, bringing this week’s storm total to 31 inches.
