Wolf Creek Ski Area to open Saturday

Early beginning to 75th season
Wolf Creek Ski Area will kick off its 75th season Saturday as it opens for limited weekend skiing.

Avid skiers who are jonesing to make their first runs of the season no longer have to drive to the Front Range to find some snow. Wolf Creek Ski Area will open for limited weekend skiing starting Saturday.

The 2014-2015 season is Wolf Creek’s 75th season.

The area currently has a 6-inch base with 14 inches of snow season-to-date thanks to last weekend’s storms. Treasure Stoke and Bonanza lifts will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Nova lift will be open with both artificial and natural snow serving Nova and Susan’s runs.

It’s not only the lifts and runs that will be limited during this early-season skiing.

The outside deck of the upper lodge will be serving burgers and beers, with cash-only sales. The ski school will be holding its hiring clinic, and lessons will be available.

Lift tickets will be sold at the local-appreciation rates of $41 for adults and $24 for seniors and children. The rates will remain in effect until further notice.
